Summary[]

Ezra, Jake, and Nick hang out in Austin the day before Vampire Weekend's big show. They chat Texas music, contemplating the appeal of Dallas (dubbed "the shiny city") over other major Texas cities. Ezra details Sergio Leone's film Once Upon a Time in the West and how it differed from the classic narratives of the Western genre. Jake states his love for Vampire Weekend's newest album, and the Crew discuss the songs and flow of the track listing. Ezra mentions the band's recent cover of the folk song "Peggy O", and the group take a lyrical deep dive into the Grateful Dead's version of the song, where they discover major incel vibes. VW's last live performance from 2022 is covered, including the Korean band who accidentally dissed them right before their set. Ezra shares the special guests who will join Vampire Weekend on stage during the eclipse show: Brian Robert Jones, Chromeo's Dave 1, and Phoenix's Thomas Mars. The latter two musicians both being francophones, Ezra states his desire to have them speak French onstage. Jake and Nick are then grilled over which six flags flew over Texas throughout the state's history before the Crew begins reporting on the scene at the eclipse show. Despot is asked about his appearances in Vampire Weekend's music videos for "Mary Boone" and "Diane Young", and Nick shares that his great-great-uncles founded Arby's. Various fans are quizzed by Max on Time Crisis trivia, and the Crew talks to Holly McClarin about the TCU Wiki and Winter about Starbucks' union news. The episode wraps up sans Ezra backstage after the concert, where the Crew recap their experience of the show and the total solar eclipse.
